As we head into the "Spring" the snow and weather deteriorates. As you can see from Wilmot's website, they have been closed the past two days in the hopes of blowing new snow and preserving what they have for the weekend (for us!) They will continue to do this for each weekend until they close. When they close is up to them, and the weather. Last season they stayed open an additional week in March (March 16th) as we had a snow storm earlier in the week - so we took advantage of the snow and added a weekend to our season. This year we moved Granite Peak to that third Saturday, so we suspect that our last trip may in fact be March 10th.
But what you all really want to know about is the trip to Granite Peak. That will happen on the weekend of March 16-18th. We are just finalizing the details and the webpage for sign up should be up shortly. The cost will be $350 for the weekend. The fee includes the lift tickets, lodging, and bus fee. Lunch and Dinner will be extra. The buses will leave from both Lincoln Park and River Forest at around 4:30 PM on Friday and return Sunday evening around 8 PM. This is a lightly supervised trip desigend for those in 5th grade and older. I'd prefer to have only level D and higher although I'll also want to see the level C skiers and boarders before they join us.
