Short Term Reminders

The Blizzard Season is fully underway with a series of events and deadlines that only make the run up to December 9th that much more exciting. For all renewing members, you will have until OCTOBER 15th (at midnight) to sign up for Blizzard to receive a 15% discount (on your one-time annual membership) for early enrollment. The end time of midnight will be controlled by the computer program not me, so no more problems with the mail or hand delivering the application. I will send multiple reminders to you.

Blizzard has basically operated the same way for most of its 55+ years of existence. And I don't expect this year to be any different. Even under the new auspices of the Vail Corporation, Wilmot has retained its small mountain family community aspect that helps nurture our skiers and boarders. We hold lessons in the morning and ski and board in the afternoon. Many of our beloved instructors are returning, and the mountain house has been rejuvinated and modernized. The Vail Instruction program has always been followed at Wilmot, but we have seen an improvement in processes of our club's interaction with Wilmot which will only get better. We use Wilmot for a reason, and have for our entire history.

New bus routes are still being worked out as we add new members. We know that the Barrington stop is at the Viking Ski Shop in Barrington, and the Skokie stop is at The Shred Shop. Other stops have yet to be finalized. Suggestions are appreciated (so are new members in the new locations.) Our goal is to add all your friends and neighbors. Referrals are welcome. If your school participates in a "digital backpack" program, please let me know so I can get our brochure into the system. As a not-for-profit, we are exactly the type of program other parents want to hear about.

So here are the approaching dates that matter:

October 15th - end of Early Bird pricing for returning Blizzard Members (and their family members)

October 20-22 - The Windy City Ski and Snowboard Show in Schaumburg  Windy City Ski & Snowboard Show

October 29th - end of early bird pricing for seasonal equipment rentals from Viking (see my emails for more info and coupons)

November 3-4 - Warren Miller Film Showing "Line of Descent" in Chicagoleand. Tickets at Park West (I heartily recommend buying tickets from Viking instead of online)

November 19th - last chance to buy Epic Passes (buy them for your whole family) Purchase Epic Pass

Last but not least, Supervisors. We need them. From all locations. I’d prefer those of you who can commit to at least 3 trips per season. There are only 3 or 4 people that have committed to every single trip and they are gold to me. I’d gladly welcome more.

Pray for Snow!
