Trials and Tribulations of a Volunteer-Run Organization

For more than 60 years there has really only been one administrative person at the helm of Blizzard. I'm only the second person to have that role, and it is not without its challenges. I am a professional volunteer (I have other interests for which I volunteer) but skiing is my passion. I do this for the love of the sport and to ensure that our Midwestern kids have the opportunity that I had as a child in New England, or those that have mountains within a reasonable driving distance. You can poo-poo the hills of Wisconsin all you want, but we WILL turn your kids into competent skiers and boarders so you can take them anywhere in the world and be enamored of their ability.

Trip #2 of the 2025-2026 Blizzard Season!

Happy Holidays!

Last Trip for Wilmot This Season

Saturday is the last trip for Wilmot Mountain. Snow/weather permitting, we will be back at Alpine for the remaining two trips of the year. Anyone can get reclassified this trip and there is a special E-F ski class at 10AM that will be a classification class for those at that level.

Return to Wilmot for the month of February

We return to Wilmot and all the high intensity of lessons and training they gave to offer. We’ll have Terrain Park lessons for advanced skiers and Movement Analysis for everyone. Remember Wilmot is cashless and does require a Winter Activities Waiver to participate. Earlier return times will apply as well.

Back to Alpine with a Day for Practice and Idyllic Weather

While the one missing element may be a bit more sun, the forecast sounds like a dream with a 35-degree high temperature and partly cloudy. We know it will be a crowded day at Alpine, so we encourage everyone to take the time to practice what they have been learning over the past few weeks. This will be a great day to work with our newly minted G skiers and snowboarders who are learning the art of movement analysis in preparation for becoming fully fledged ski and snowboard instructors. I will caution everyone that the Terrain Park is off-limits to skiers level C and below. And, leave your poles back in the racks instead of at the Terrain Park.
